About

We can do better.

As student journalists, we should always be thinking of ways we can improve the quality of our publications. Daily deadline shouldn’t get in the way of thorough reporting and thoughtful writing, photography and design. A shrinking news hole should inspire us to produce the best possible content for the space we have.

How can we improve? By celebrating, emulating and talking about good writing. That’s the goal of this blog.

We will post a good story, headline, caption or ASF produced by someone from IU Student Media when we see one. We’ll pose questions about editorial choices. We’ll point out our failures and praise our successes. We hope to start a dialogue about how to improve through peer critique. We hope this can serve as a forum for us to think about what we’re putting in the paper and how we can improve.

Read something you love? Send us an e-mail at cscudder@indiana.edu or mauslen@indiana.edu and we’ll put it on the blog.
