Headlines

In IDS on October 19, 2010 at 10:50 am

Let’s talk about headlines. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m horrible at writing them. But a headline helps readers determine whether or not they’re going to start reading a story. Here are some headlines I read in the IDS today. Which ones work? How can we improve them?

  • “Referendum vote to effect education student placements”
  • “IU Foundation files lawsuit for Hilltop grant”
  • “Renewed history club gives possibility to share research”
  • “New martini bar Serendipity sets upscale standard”
  • Opinion: “Oil, global markets and genocide, oh my!”

Post your thoughts (and favorite headlines).
